TBSラジオ「伊集院光の深夜の馬鹿力」でDJ伊集院氏が語ったところによると、テレビ番組制作予算がないので王将に賞品のスポンサードを頼んだところ、その番組のレーティングやターゲット・コンセプトではなく、「お宅の番組は頑張っている若手を応援していますか？」と聞かれたとのこと。キー局の番組やプライムタイムに出られるわけの無い無名芸人・若手オールスターズで成り立つ番組だということを伝えたところ、「頑張る若者を応援するのが王将なんで、それなら商品券出します」とあっさり交渉がまとまったそうです。

　真偽はともかく（伊集院氏がウソ付く意味がないので真実でしょうが）、こんなことをされたらそりゃあ伊集院氏、ラジオでしゃべるに決まっていますよね。しかも伊集院氏の深夜放送ターゲットオーディエンスは明らかに、カフェめしやらスイーツとは別世界の住人。それが王将客層じゃないですか。
